This project entails a sweeping brownfield upgrade of the North Grafton Wastewater Treatment Plant, on the banks of the Clarence River. Originally built in 1933 and upgraded over the decades, the trickling filter plant was at risk of non-compliance with Environmental Protection Agency requirements, necessitating its replacement. Haslin is proud of its relationship with Clarence Valley Council, having delivered the $40M Clarence Valley Scheme back in 2009, and the award-winning $22M upgrade of the Yamba Wastewater Treatment Plant in 2015.
The new Grafton plant, being delivered safely within the confines of the operational facility, combines state-of-the-art Inlet Works, IDEA tanks, Balance Tanks and Tertiary Filtration and will ensure EPA standards will be met. Once the new plant is completed adjacent the existing facility, decommissioning of the existing plant will take place, with the old site converted into a series of sludge lagoons.
