Mount Morgan Pipeline

Sector Water
Year 2024-25
Location Rockhampton / Mt. Morgan, QLD
Client Rockhampton Regional Council
Value $62M

This project entails construction of a 28km water pipeline from Rockhampton to Mount Morgan that will deliver long-term water security for the Mount Morgan community. In 2021, after prolonged drought, Mount Morgan’s No 7 Dam level fell below 10 percent, resulting in level six water restrictions for the community. From 2021 to 2024, Council carted water from the Rockhampton water supply network through to Mount Morgan. While this served the community’s needs, the pipeline and associated infrastructure represents a futureproof solution.

The scope of works includes:

  • Construction of a 28km potable water pipeline from the pump station at Gracemere to Mount Morgan;
  • Upgrade of the pump station at Old Capricorn Highway;
  • Construction of a new reservoir and new pump station at Lucas Street, Gracemere; and
  • New pump station and small reservoir at Moonmera, approximately halfway along the pipeline route.
