Sector Civil Marine Works
Year Completed 2018
Location Coffs Harbour, NSW
Client Department of Primary Industries
Value $9m
This project involved an extensive upgrade of Coffs Harbour’s Northern Breakwall, a crucial piece of maritime infrastructure in the region. Works included a new raised and widened bitumen and concrete access-way, with associated lighting infrastructure upgrades, ramps and guard railing.
All in all, the breakwater was bolstered with 60 000 tonnes of rock, and around 1500 concrete hanbars. The rejuvenated breakwater not only serves the local shipping and fishing industries, but also provides safe access to the lush wildlife sanctuary that is Muttonbird Island, which receives over 100 000 visitors annually.
“Not only is Coffs Harbour a beautiful part of the world to be spending time in, but it’s rewarding to be involved in the upgrade of such an important piece of Australia’s maritime infrastructure.”
Matt Francesconi, Construction Manager
