This project entailed comprehensive test piling for Downer’s 100MW Solar Farm in Clare, QLD. The testing was crucial to the design process, providing the technical foundation for the install of almost 400 000 solar panels. These panels – spread across 340 hectares – provide clean energy for Burdekin Shire residents, service the region’s sprawling sugar cane industry, and ultimately service the national grid.

The scope of works included the supply, installation and testing of varying pile lengths in variable ground conditions. This required the mobilisation of specialist equipment and personnel to remote Northern Queensland in order to provide the client with in-ground geotechnical conditions and pile performance through extensive pile pullout and lateral testing.
