This project entailed a sweeping upgrade of the historic Alligator Creek Bridge, located north of Rockhampton, QLD. The 253m long bridge, originally built in 1911, was upgraded as part of Queensland Rail’s asset renewal program, with the scope of works including intricate piling in order to replace the bridge’s ageing concrete piers, as well as extensive general repairs and maintenance, with all carried out around meticulously planned Major Closure weekends. The new piers will ensure structural integrity and transfer of loads to a suitable stratum with sufficient rock socket length, with the works ensuring the safety of the bridge, reducing maintenance interventions and allowing removal of temporary speed restrictions.
While this is Haslin’s first rail project in Queensland, it comes off the back of a long line of complex rail upgrades in NSW, some $200M worth of works across both Sydney Metro and Transport for NSW’s Transport Access Program. Haslin’s collaborative approach has translated seamlessly to the sunshine state, with the team working proactively within Queensland Rail’s stringent safety systems across meticulously planned rail possessions.
“We’ve been able to deliver safely, efficiently and on time. It’s all been possible thanks to the strong collaboration between Queensland Rail and Haslin.”
Anthony Sadi, Queensland Rail PM

“We’ve delivered critical upgrades safely and to a high standard. It’s something the entire Haslin team is incredibly proud of.”
Katherine Pollock, QLD Safety Manager
“Both Haslin and QR firmly believe close and regular collaboration is the key to a successful project.”
