The existing Donnison Street Overbridge is located in Gosford NSW, and forms a major arterial for road and pedestrian traffic in and out of the Gosford CBD. The existing bridge has a jack arch design with longitudinal steel girders which span over four live railway tracks. The project effectively involved a complete overhaul of the existing bridge which had various safety concerns and did not comply with current bridge standards. The major project elements included:

• Demolition of the existing brick parapets walls on either side of the bridge (including the design & erection of scaffolding to either side of the bridge)

• Excavation & lowering of the existing concrete bridge deck

• Fabrication & installation of 150 tonnes of new precast concrete traffic barriers to either side of the bridge

• Fabrication & installation of new steel protection screens to either side of the bridge

• Blasting & painting the existing bridge steel girders

• Road resurfacing

• Earthing & bonding of the bridge steel structure
